Eriana James is studying abroad at the University of the Western Cape, in Cape Town, South Africa. A native from the south Chicagoland area, Eriana is a junior in the College majoring in African American Studies and minoring in Sociology. On campus, Eriana can be found at Georgetown Event Management Services where she works as a seasoned event assistant. If she is not there, she may be in her apartment listening to music and writing down positive self-quotes or she may be with her friends dancing as it is an outlet for her. Eriana chose to study at the University of the Western Cape for many reasons. The most prominent ones includes her being a first-generation student on both paternal and maternal sides of her family and no one has yet been to South Africa in her family and also because she is getting prepared to begin her senior thesis and UWC is in a great location to get her thinking of ideas that she would love to explore. Eriana has NEVER left the country so this is her first time and it will be for 5 months that she is at UWC. While she is anxious, she is also excited to see another part of the world that she used to dream about as a little girl.
