Author: Julian Lark
Born and raised in Chicago, Julian is a junior in the SFS majoring in International Political Economy with a minor in Russian and a certificate from the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and Eastern European Studies. At Georgetown, Julian can be found speaking as a member on the floor of the Philodemic Society during their weekly debates or hanging out with his fellow members of the GU Russian Association. He looks forward to exploring St. Petersburg’s lively cultural and culinary scenes, discovering the depths of the city’s incredible museums, and making close connections with his Russian classmates at the Smolny Institute. Hopefully, in doing all that, his Russian may improve! An avid history nerd, Julian is looking forward to digging deep into St. Petersburg’s Second World War history – with the hope of meeting siege survivors and seeking out artifacts from that tumultuous period. Beyond all else, Julian is looking forward to learning deeply about St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Russian people.
