Stacie Hartman

Originally from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Stacie Hartman is a junior in the School of Foreign Service studying International Politics, Economics, and Spanish. She is particularly interested in foreign policy and relations between the United States and Latin America. Because of her passion for international affairs, she is in the midst of working a two-part internship with the Department of State, spending one summer at a policy desk in Washington, DC and another summer at an embassy abroad. On campus, she is involved with the Institute of Politics as the Student Communications Ambassador, a member of the Model United Nations team, the Secretary of Higher Education Advocacy in the Student Association's Federal Relations Committee, and she serves as a consultant for Hilltop Consultants. She also works part-time as an Economics Teaching Assistant and as a storyteller for the Georgetown Stories Project within the University's Office of Communications. She is ecstatic to be studying in Madrid, Spain for her first half of junior year, as she wants to work on her Spanish language skills and learn more about the rich history of a state that colonized the majority of Latin America. For her second semester, she will be studying the Portuguese language in São Paulo, Brazil, where she was named a Boren Scholar of the National Security Education Program. She hopes to either work directly with or consult for the federal government in the arena of international politics following graduation, and she eventually plans on attending law school.
Grace Rector
SIT Chile: Comparative Education and Social Change: Santiago, Chile
A Los Angeles native, Grace Rector is a junior in the School of Foreign Service majoring in Culture and Politics with a concentration in Global Education and a minor in Education, Inquiry, and Justice. She is currently participating in the SIT program: Comparative Education and Social Change in Santiago, Chile and Argentina. Grace has a passion for education because she feels that it is an impactful tool that can be used to break systems of power or reinforce them. She decided to do this SIT program in order to improve her Spanish skills and also to do research on the education gaps in Chile specifically. In her free time, Grace enjoys doing work at the Beeck Center for Social Impact, doing Outreach events for the International Relations Club, and participating in the Alternative Breaks Program. Grace is the only child of a single mom who taught her how to pro-travel since she was a child. Grace first left the country when she was 3 years old, and since the travel bug bit her, she has prioritized her education and travel over everything else. Grace's dream job as a child was to be a travel writer, because traveling and writing are two of her favorite things to do.
Samantha Schlageter
National University of Ireland: Galway, Ireland
Samantha Schlageter is a junior in the School of Nursing and Health Studies majoring in Healthcare Management and Policy and minoring in Statistics. At Georgetown, Samantha is involved with Georgetown Global Consulting, a nonprofit that provides consulting services to organizations worldwide. Samantha is also a member of the Georgetown University Varsity Sailing Team, the Ping Pong Club, and she works as a graphic designer for the Georgetown University School of Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys painting, playing the piano, creating videos, and performing her bagpipes. Samantha will spend the Fall 2019 semester in Galway, Ireland. She was attracted to this location due to Galway's rich culture of Irish music and art.

Olivia is a junior in the College studying Government with a minor in Journalism and an Eastern European Studies Certificate. On campus, Olivia serves as co-president for Georgetown Speechwriters, editor of the H*yas for Choice blog, and plays midfield on the Club Lacrosse team. She’s excited to study government from a Russian perspective, especially considering the current political climate, and hopefully improve on her admittedly-modest Russian skills.

SIT Czech Republic: Arts and Social Change
Emily Jaster loves to talk about her origins in Cleveland, Ohio -- and especially about how her early memories there inspired her ongoing interests in physics, art, and creative writing. This semester, Emily is taking a hiatus from her physics major coursework to study the interaction of art and society in Prague, Czech Republic -- drawing from her background as an art critic for The Georgetown Voice and as a lighting designer for Georgetown's nomadic theatre. When stateside and not on campus, Emily now resides in northern Virginia and spends most of her time reading The New Yorker or diving into her growing stack of poetry books
